Anchovies are a common bait fish in the sea. They are the prized food of many ocean and bay predators including bass, tuna, 'cuda, mackerel and jacks. Their small translucent bodies make imitating them difficult for all but the most carefully crafted of flies. This pattern also works well under extremely clear water conditions even if anchovies aren't the primary bait around.
